Queensryche

Queensryche put on a wonderful sold out show last night at the Emerald.
I got to host the WRIF winners for the sound check party. The band was running about an hour and a half late, but still did 4 songs for our listeners.
This was the theatrical production of Operation:Mindcrime and I was lucky enough to be part of the show. As I was introducing the band the main character bolted on stage and grabbed the microphone and launched the band into “Anarchy-X.”
The question of “who killed Mary?” was also answered during the show when Mary committed suicide on stage during a new version of “Electric Requiem.”
A last note, I did interview both guitarists, Mike Stone and Michael Wilton. They will be my guests on the February, 20th edition of the Chop Shop on WRIF at 9am. I’ll also play a portion of that interview this Saturday night on “Amped on the 80s.”

Black Out.

Auto Show 2005

Thanks to everyone who stopped by the WRIF booth at this year’s auto show. I got to broadcast on location 3 times this year, so I got to look around quite a bit.
I was very impressed by that new Jeep “Gladiator” and I swung by the Ferrari display to check out the cars I’ll never be able to afford! I also ran into an old friend of mine Dan Cable from Jack Cauley Ferrari, so maybe this summer I’ll get to try one on for size for a weekend?
It was also a thrill to spend a few minutes with the Lions Special Teams Pro Bowl player Eddie Drummond! Eddie was on of several Detroit Lions to sign autographs for the fans at the Lincoln Mercury display.
Queensryche is this Wednesday at the Emerald in Mt. Clemens. Snatch up some tickets and join me and the Riff crew at the show.

All the best,
Black Out.

A little rock star craziness

Stephen Pearcy (former lead singer for Ratt) stopped by the WRIF studios to be part of the new “Amped on the 80s” Saturday night show. Most of the funny stuff happened on the way.The RIFF is near 8 Mile and Coolidge. Stephen called my cell phone and said “I just got off 94 on 8 Mile, am I close?” “94! Who gave you directions? Drive down 8 Mile for 10 miles or so and call me when you see signs for I-75.”The next time he called he said “I see some freeway signs, are you near 275?” I said “Good God man, you just drove the entire length of 8 Mile!”After several additional phone calls and asking fellow Detroiters for directions the self-proclaimed “RATT Bastard” made it to the station, and we had a great conversation. We got along so well in fact, we are contemplating working on a future TV project together! What can I say life is crazy. One last note. I didn’t know that Stephen Pearcy played guitar. He told me that when he auditioned for his first band it was to be the guitarist. The band said we don’t need a guitar player, can you sing?…and the rest is rock & roll history!Listen for that story and many others as Stephen Pearcy makes a guest appearance on my syndicated guitar show, the Chop Shop on Sunday, February 6th at 9am on the RIFF.

Black out.
